Cyberattacks have long been a daily reality for businesses of all sizes. Small and medium-sized enterprises in particular are often inadequately protected – not because of indifference, but because they lack the time, the overview and accessible entry-level options. This is precisely where the DAISEC Cybersecurity-Check CARE comes in.
This free online tool enables businesses to obtain a personalised risk assessment of their IT security posture in less than ten minutes. It is based on a scientific study that we conducted in collaboration with partners, drawing on a survey of 5,000 small and medium-sized enterprises in Germany. The results of the assessment are automatically compared with those of similar companies from this dataset, without any manual intervention by third parties.
Here’s how the check works: Users complete a structured questionnaire on the security measures implemented within their organisation, as well as providing basic company information. The tool then automatically generates a personalised risk analysis, identifies specific vulnerabilities and provides recommendations for action, along with further information sources.
The cybersecurity check is anonymous, compliant with data protection regulations and free of charge. As DAISEC is funded by the EU, only the number of checks carried out is recorded for project reporting purposes – no individual results or company-specific data are collected.
