How can modern AI technologies meaningfully complement everyday school life, particularly where teachers are stretched for time? This question marked the start of an exciting collaboration between DAISEC and BBS Burgdorf at the beginning of the year. Together, they developed an AI-supported chatbot that supports students in the „BFS dual“ educational program outside of class.
The aim: An intelligent learning companion that provides accurate answers based on the content provided by teachers, regardless of time or location. There is a particularly high need for advice and support during the orientation phase of the one-year educational program, when students choose between a vocational specialization and a technical college entrance qualification.
The solution: A data protection-compliant AI chatbot, operated on Lower Saxony infrastructure, which works with a combination of language model, security filter, and a processed knowledge database (RAG pipeline). The technologies used were developed in close consultation with the parties involved—from the initial idea to practical application.
The result: A successful prototype with up to 120 expected users and a concept that can be transferred to other schools and disciplines. Initial discussions with another vocational school are already underway, and a larger research project is even planned for the medium term.
