From March 12 to 13, 2025, we were part of the ZUKUNFT HANDWERK congress in Munich. Our experts appeared both in the stage program and in the specialist forum and shared their knowledge of AI in the skilled trades with an interested specialist audience.
AI in the skilled trades - potential and practical examples
Our AI expert Julian Laue and our network partner Anja Gieske Helmsen from the Mittelstand-Digital Zentrum Handwerk provided information on the main stage about the many possible applications of AI in skilled trade businesses. In front of around 120 visitors, they presented practical use cases from the HVAC and electrical trades and showed how modern technologies can contribute to increasing efficiency and innovation in the trades.
The DAISEC was also represented at the “Artificial Intelligence” expert forum organized by the German Crafts Institute (DHI) . Our expert for digital technologies in the skilled crafts sector, Walter Pirk, shed light on the current state of AI development and its potential for skilled crafts businesses. The five regionally distributed DHI research institutes also presented the latest findings on AI applications in vocational training, skilled crafts organization and consulting.
Discussion about opportunities, challenges and limits
In the expert forum, the participants also exchanged in-depth views on their own experiences with AI in the skilled trades. They discussed the opportunities and challengesassociated with the introduction of this technology and discussed solutions to existing obstacles. Not only technical aspects were highlighted, but also the economic and social impact.
ZDH Secretary General Holger Schwannecke emphasized in his speech: “AI can help to develop new business models and relieve companies of routine tasks. At the same time, megatrends such as the shortage of skilled workers and demographic change are driving the use of AI forward.”

The ZUKUNFT HANDWERK congress 2025 showed once again that artificial intelligence is a key technology for the future of the skilled trades .
